My background and fields of specialization

Patent consultancy
I represent clients in EPO oppositions and appeals, and in relation to patent contentious matters. Additionally I provide opinion work as well as advice on IP strategies and freedom to operate analyses.

Focus areas and educational background
I specialize in physics, mechanics, software and control engineering. I hold a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a post-graduate degree in aeronautics from the von Kármán Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Brussels. I am a European Patent Attorney, and I have passed the CEIPI/epi diploma course on patent litigation in Europe.

Technical fields of specialization
I work in the fields of renewable energy, control engineering, process equipment, medical devices, internet security and general physics

Experience
I have conducted a high number of EPO oppositions and appeals, and I have provided support and given expert testimony in patent infringement cases in various European jurisdictions. Recent projects

I am currently lead attorney in various parallel invalidity actions brought against one of our clients’ patents for ground-breaking inventions in the field of fibre composites for wind turbine blades. I have additionally provided support to a global enterprise in relation to multi-national litigation of patents concerning a medical device

On a personal note

Spare time is family time – most often at the side line of a dancing arena or a soccer field. During my frequent business trips I unwind with running shoes on my feet or by listening to the music of Beethoven, Brahms or Mahler.
